Rang Dong Wins Vietnam’s Smart City Award 2025
Rang Dong, officially known as Rang Dong Light Source and Vacuum Flask Joint Stock Company, was handed the Vietnam Smart City Award for Smart Living 2025 in Security and Safety for Life category on December 23, 2025 in Hanoi. The company’s Artificial Intelligence (AI)-powered early-warning system to detect and minimize electrical system failures has won the recognition from the Vietnam Software and IT Services Association (VINASA), marking the second year in a row the company received the award.
The Smart City Award launched by VINASA in 2020 seeks to honor innovative technologies that enhance urban living through intelligence, efficiency and safety. Rang Dong's solution, one of the 10 technological winners, stood out among entries from leading enterprises, research institutions and solution providers nationwide.
In 2024, Rang Dong won the Smart City Award for its solar-powered smart lighting system incorporating AI and IoT. The company also received VINASA's Smart City Awards in 2020 and 2021.

The 2025 award was part of the Vietnam-Asia Smart City Summit activities that took part in Hanoi in December last year. Besides the technological awards, another eight awards were handed to cities and urban centers across the country, VINASA said in a statement.
The award validates Rang Dong's sustained efforts in research, innovation and practical AI application to address real-world challenges in modern cities, from electrical safety to human protection to the overall quality of life. The Hanoi-based company is Vietnam’s leading innovator in lighting and smart technology.

Rang Dong’s winning solution employs advanced AI algorithms to monitor electrical systems in real time, detecting anomalies such as overheating, insulation faults, short circuits, or abnormal current patterns before they escalate into hazards.
The solution is designed to provide:

- Predictive analytics that identify potential risks based on historical data and patterns;
- Automated mitigation actions, such as circuit isolation or load balancing, to prevent incidents;
