Rang Dong Hosts Smart Lighting Factory Tour for Student

January 3rd, 2026

The Hanoi-based Rang Dong, fully known as Rang Dong Light Source and Vacuum Flask Joint Stock Company, welcomed a delegation of students from FPT Polytechnic College on November 14 for an educational tour that offered direct exposure to advanced lighting technologies and smart manufacturing processes.

The visit provided young learners with a valuable opportunity to connect classroom theory with real-world industry practice. Throughout the day, students explored how a traditional Vietnamese enterprise has evolved into a high-tech leader specializing in Lighting 4.0+ solutions, blending digital innovation with sustainable production to meet modern demands.

The visit combined historical context, hands-on product interaction and behind-the-scenes factory insights, creating a comprehensive learning experience that highlighted career paths in engineering, automation, and green technology.

Showroom and Ecosystem Experience

The tour began at Rang Dong’s showroom, where students discovered the company’s 60-plus-year journey from a light-source manufacturer to its present status as a pioneer in smart and sustainable lighting. Interactive displays traced key milestones, showcasing early vacuum flasks alongside today’s connected LED systems.

Students then engaged directly with the full RalliSmart ecosystem and Lighting 4.0+ portfolio. They tested smart home controls that manage lighting, security and appliances via smartphone or voice commands, experienced high-tech agricultural lighting that boosts crop growth through precise spectrum tuning.

Students also explored solar-powered street and outdoor solutions that operate independently of the grid, and examined advanced horticultural systems designed for vertical farms and greenhouses.

These live demonstrations illustrated practical applications of Internet of Things (IoT) networks, Bluetooth mesh technology, and energy-efficient LED drivers, giving students a tangible sense of how software and hardware converge to create user-friendly, environmentally responsible products.

Modern LED Production Lines

Part of the visit was the guided tour of Rang Dong’s automated LED manufacturing facilities. Students observed state-of-the-art surface-mount technology (SMT) lines where robotic arms place components with micron-level precision, fully automated optical inspection stations that use AI-powered cameras to detect microscopic defects, and integrated testing chambers that verify performance under simulated real-world conditions.

Rang Dong representatives explained how Industry 4.0 principles, including real-time data analytics and predictive maintenance, keep the lines running at peak efficiency while minimizing waste.

They also shared Rang Dong’s strategic vision: evolving from a traditional manufacturer into a high-tech enterprise focused on smart cities, green energy, and digital transformation.

Throughout the factory walkthrough, students saw Vietnamese engineers operating alongside collaborative robots, gaining insight into modern workplace dynamics and the growing importance of skills in programming, data analysis, and system integration.

FPT Polytechnic students said the visit significantly broadened their professional perspective and strengthened motivation to excel in technology-related fields.

The November event is not the first visit hosted by Rang Dong for students.

The company regularly opens doors to educational groups as it views the industry–academy collaboration as essential for nurturing the next generation of engineers and innovators.

In April and May it welcomed students from the Hanoi Architectural University and the International School under the Vietnam National University, respectively, to tour its factory and got updates of Rang Dong’s digital transformation.

Such initiatives help bridge the gap between academic training and industry needs, keeping Vietnamese young talents ready to drive future advancements in smart manufacturing and sustainable technology.
