Baking soda and vinegar – key to effective cleaning of vintage thermos

Cleaning vintage thermos could be a bit more complicated than other liquid containers. Low-cost and accessible ingredients such as vinegar, lemon juice, and baking soda should play an effective role in helping us get rid of the stains. Each cleaning solution only requires a few ingredients that you probably already have in your kitchen or bathroom.

Baking soda and vinegar

If a vintage thermos is neglected and a simple wash with dish detergent and water doesn’t work, other ingredients shall be called in. White vinegar and baking soda solution could easily help get rid of any stains.

Firstly, pour vinegar into the thermos and dump in one or two tablespoons of baking soda depending on how many cups the flask contains. Swish the thermos with the baking soda and vinegar inside, holding it over the sink in case the solution foams over. Do not place the cap on the spout.

When the foam of the mixture has subdued, pour hot water into the flask to fill it. Allow the cleaning solution to remain for around 10 minutes. To guarantee we get every stain and make the process more comfortable, scrub the inside of the vintage thermos with a bottle brush.

The first step is to mix the same portions of lemon juice and water and pour it in the thermos. Let it rest for approximately five minutes and scrub with a bottle brush or sponge. After that, drain the mixture and rinse it a few times to get rid of the lemon scent. This cleaning solution is also excellent for your coffee pot.
