Advantages
Excellent heat conductor
A cast iron teapot allows the water to be heated evenly and throughout the brewing process. As such, tea leaves are fully steeped, resulting in a stronger, more flavorful brew.
Durable
Cast iron teapots are often considered to be more durable than other types of teapots, because its cast material won’t shatter the way that glass or clay would. In fact, many cast iron teapots are passed down through generations as family heirlooms.
Can a cast iron teapot be used to boil water on fire?
Cast iron teapots are inspired by and modeled after Tetsubin (tea kettles). They are kettles traditionally used to heat water for the Japanese tea ceremony. This leads to a lot of confusion about whether or not a cast iron teapot can be used on an open flame or heat source.
Tetsubin is used for boiling water but never for actually brewing the tea. In contrast, a cast iron teapot can not be used on a heat source any hotter than a tea light candle warmer. An open fire could damage the lining or even break the pot.
Using a cast iron teapot for tea brewing
Cast iron teapots can be used to make tea with loose tea leaves or tea bags. Before brewing tea, it is recommended to preheat the pot to enhance its heat conduction. Pour hot water into it and keep it for a few moments, but avoid boiling directly on the fire.
Next, place the infuser basket in the pot, measure tea leaves and hot water, then steep it for the required time. Each type of tea needs a particular amount of water at a particular temperature; so we should check the suitable water amount and water temperature of our tea leaves. Then remove the infuser basket and enjoy the favorable tea.

Proper cleaning
Since this type of teapot is made from iron, it’s prone to rust if it is not cleaned properly. After drinking, the teapot should be cleaned right away, using only hot water to rinse away any tea residue. Soap or other cleaners should be avoided, as this can damage the enamel and the iron. After cleaning, dry the inner part of the teapot with a soft cloth and store it in a dry place to prevent rust from forming
Regular cleaning is necessary to maintain the teapot's condition, and polishing with a tea-soaked cloth will keep the cast iron teapot looking glossy and prevent rusts.
